Many years ago, I was praying to God for a miracle I desperately needed. My prayers were intense, filled with urgency and longing. Let me begin by saying there is nothing wrong with seeking God for a miracle. He is a loving Father who invites
us to bring our needs to Him.
However, as I’ve learned over the years, there comes a point in our walk with God when seeking His hand should no longer be our primary motivation. We are called to grow beyond the infant stage of faith and pursue Him simply because we love Him.
I vividly remember one day in the middle of my quest—bombarding God with my petitions—He gently spoke to my heart. It wasn’t a rebuke but a loving challenge.
He said, “My daughter, I hear you, and yes, what you are asking for is in line with My will. But if I choose not to do it, will you still pursue Me with the same intensity?” That question stopped me in my tracks. I fell silent before Him, and in that moment of honesty, I had to admit, “No, Lord.”
